QUIKSILVER

Visual Identity

OVERVIEW

For this project, my task was to re-design the logo and brand identity for QUIKSILVER, an outdoor apparel and gear that specializes in surfwear. The challenge is to develop a different approach yet maintain the brand’s mission: persisting sustainability in their production while delivering high-quality products.

Targeting young adults and adults who enjoy outdoor activities, especially watersports, I chose to create a simple, modern, and memorable logo. I decided on a clean, minimal, and trending approach for this project.

THE LOGO

After experiencing with different approaches and varieties, I selected this version as my final logo. The letter “Q” is split in half with wavy bottom half, making it looks as if it was the reflection of the top half. With a simple and clean look, this logo perfectly represents their water-sports-focused business.

THE COLOR PALETTE

This palette is inspired by one of the biggest trends on social media, The Sad Beige trend where people design their lifestyle using muted and neutral colors. For the primary colors, I chose colors that represent nature: dark blue as the ocean, light blue as snow and ice, beige as the earth, and blueish green as the forest; I selected similar colors with lighter shades as the secondary colors that complement the primary palette well.

THE TYPEFACES

Using the same typeface for the logo, I chose Buttershine Serif as the primary typeface and paired it with Din Condensed. While the primary typeface establishes the clean, elegant, and luxury look, the secondary san-serif typeface keeps it modern and balanced.
