OVERVIEW

Having bookmarks is essential for any book enthusiast as they provide a practical solution for keeping track of where you left off in a book without damaging them and help organize reading materials, enhancing the reading experience. Beyond their functional benefits, bookmarks also hold sentimental value and act as tangible reminders of literary adventures and personal preferences.

For this series of bookmarks, I chose to introduce the Vietnamese Water Puppetry. Vietnamese water puppetry dates back to the Ly Dynasty in the Red River Delta region of Northern Vietnam, and the water puppetry shows would be performed at the village festivals during the rice harvest seasons. From festival performances to high-class shows, water puppetry is a highly-valued cultural heritage of Vietnam that has been inherited through many generations. This bookmarks series briefly introduces the most popular characters in water puppetry, providing audiences with a quick and basic understanding and expectation from the Vietnamese water puppetry performances(*).
